Adam Whitney has been a metalsmith for over a decade. His skill set is varied and reflects the wide processes and techniques pertaining to metalsmithing. Adam received his BFA in Crafts from Virginia Commonwealth University where he concentrated in Jewelry and Metalsmitihing. He further developed his skills in metalsmithing as a bench jeweler making custom jewelry and repairs. Adam spent four years as the metals studio coordinator at Penland School of Crafts and taught Jewelry Design at Raffles College in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While living abroad Adam spent time traveling throughout South East Asia and India absorbing diverse cultures, customs, and indigenous design. His recent work employs traditional silversmithing techniques to create functional objects and heirlooms.
