Andrew Dohner

Andy is a third generation steelworker that started his career in 1992 as a welder and fabricator. In 2002 he made a transition into decorative metalworking with a focus on journeyman blacksmithing. For a six year period he studied at craft schools and artist studios across the US. This time was completely self-motivated with a focus on developing a variety of forging skills and a solid foundation as a power hammer operator. The opportunity to work and mentor under some of the most talented artist blacksmiths and sculptors in the US has given Andy a unique approach to his personal work. Andy currently has a studio in Southern Oregon where he makes refined objects for the home interior and sculpture. He has taught workshops at Austin Community College, Peters Valley Craft Center, California Blacksmith Association and Penland School of Crafts.
