Matt Jenkins spent childhood watching his father craft the world around him. As a young adult, he worked beside his dad in the blacksmith shop at Lower Fort Garry. Having picked up a hammer up at an early age, Matt feels at home standing next to an anvil. Over the past 25 years, he has honed his skills by learning traditional blacksmith techniques while studying under master smiths around North America. Matt competed and placed at the World Forging Championship in Stia, Italy, in 2009 and 2015. In 2016, Matt tested his forging and design skills by making a unique hook each day of the year. Using handtools and early industrial equipment, Matt creates designs with the timeless feel of handmade work. When he is not working in his shop, he is teaching and sharing his knowledge of the craft.
