This is an independent residency without formal instruction. All residents must be comfortable and confident operating all equipment within the Forging Classroom. If you should need to be trained on a specific piece of equipment, please see a CMA staff member. Each resident will be provided with their own forging station with an anvil, gas and coal forge. You will have access to all tooling and equipment within the Forging Classroom. You are welcome to bring personal tooling to use, however safety is our top priority and CMA staff reserve the right to deem any personal tools unsafe to use.

Residents will be responsible for all materials for the duration of their residency. You are welcome to bring your own materials. We have a local steel supplier that will deliver. CMA also has a variety of materials on hand that you are welcome to purchase. Center for Metal Arts does not provide meals. There is a full kitchen at CMA House and a small food prep area at our shop. There are multiple local stores and restaurants for food options.

A full list of policies and rules will be provided in an orientation packet upon acceptance. Each resident will be required to read through this packet and agree to all the terms. A thorough orientation and tour will occur upon the resident’s arrival to CMA.
